This is crucial! A babe of mine is getting married next yr, which i unfortunately unable to attend, had asked me on tips of choosing bridemaids & maid of honor.
So i told her based on my encounter.
As a bride to be, we all have our own unique idea of what a maid of honour should be.
Whether they are from our family members or our close friends. But close friends doesn't mean they are the best. So it doesn't hvta be from any one of them.
And incase u hv dozens of good friends, look out for the 1 who has a good potential to be ur maid of honor and the crazy bunch as the bridesmaids. A maid of honor shud b able to support you on the wedding and deal with any problem that might come up. Not some1 who would come up with problems. & possibly tries to be there during the planning process and the event.
In addition, if she has the initiative to organize and leads the bridal shower, that's excellent! I mean it's fun to hv a gathering and a girly night with ur girlfriends around, no? I dint hv mine tho.
I myself think that having these ladies around plays an important role in our wedding. As having a malay wedding that has the tradition of having the bride & groom to be seated at the wedding dias symbolizes the king and queen sitting in state, and ppl were to stare at u, u would appreaciate to have some1 who can soothes ur nerves, perhaps teases u around, makes u smile, giggle, laugh, happy.. Some1 who is cheerful, humble & bubbly. & would assist in managing the bridesmaids, spread the words on ur registry.
Plzzz not someone who would come up to u during ur reception and complains about what they think that is not right. Like the food doesnt taste nice, the ppl doesn't coordinates, the cameraman sucks, the cake isn't grand enough, yadayada. Or some1 who might pull faces telling u that boredom strikes, it's like disturbing don't u think? C'mon, it's ur day.
The more bridesmaids, the merrier. But!! Choose bridesmaids that will get on with each other.No backsides.
& avoid any1 who would steal the scene.
Bottom line is, u gotta define what u really want.
And talking bout all the above, I owe her a meet up on this coming 17th for a bachelorette movie date!
And ofcorz, I'v got something up my sleeve as usual.
