So before I forgot about my birth experience, especially the pain, i better pen it down.
I had been reading about birth prep, doa, and I thot I'd be physically ready for birth. I have had contractions and some pelvic pressure since the 8th month of my pregnancy. It was so difficult to get some sleep that I wish I'd give birth soon!
It was at 8 in the morning of May 14th when the contractions started to come closer. But I thot it was nothing as of yet coz it is 2 weeks earlier from my edd. Through out the pain, I still managed to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for my husband and perform prayers together.
7:30pm - 14 May 2015
Right after maghrib prayer, the contractions felt more intense. We continued to time the contractions. I was still in doubt. My husband and i had the same thot that we might be having a baby the next day! My husband decided to accompany me at home the whole day, which I was glad he did!
9pm - 14 May 2015
I was in the midst of decorating baby's room. And on that night itself, I was determined to finish up sewing baby's crib's bumper while my husband time my contractions and ofcoz dozing. It kept me distracted.
12am - 15 May 2015
I finally gave in and decided to get some sleep after isyak prayer.
1am - 15 May 2015
I jumped out of bed due to the extreme pelvic pain that suddenly struck! I bounced on the exercise ball for a bit, hoping that the pain won't last. I relaxed for 5 mins before the pain hit again! And immediately my husband told me to get ready to the hospital. I was certain I was in labor and agreed eventually. I quickly took a shower and we rushed out.
On our way in the car, I held my husband's hand and had to breathe deeply to get through each contractions.
3am - 15 May 2015
We arrived at the hospital and I was brought into the observation room which i was then hooked up to a monitor to monitor my contraction patterns as well as baby's heart rate. The nurse came to check my cervix and I was praying that I have dilated so I could get over this asap. I was thrilled to find that I was already 4cm dilated! However, according to the nurse, I had to wait for AN HOUR for my doctor to arrive. I loathe being confined to the bed.
4am - 15 May 2015
I was pushed to the delivery suite. I felt mostly excited thinking I would hv the baby in my arms finally. A nurse came to offer me an epidural for the 2nd time. The 3rd time was later on. Ofcoz I declined. At this point, I'm putting my mind over body. The nurse said that my doctor will arrive around 8am to check on me. That's another 4hrs of waiting. I kept praying abd zikir.
Another nurse came to hook me up with an iv drip. Whoa~ I hate needles on me!! I'm scared of the pain. I refused and thanks to my husband who helped to convinced her that I'll be fine without it. A male doctor then came warning me that it is the hospital policy and that I could be at risk. I told them that I need to focus on self relieving my contractions and without it, it would be easier for me to toss and turn to my comfortable positions during labour.
6am - 15 May 2015
By this time the contractions picked up to 2 mins apart and longer. As shown on the pain scale, my husband applied counter pressure to my back everytime a contraction kicks in. It was so intense I started to cry. As far as i can remember, it felt like an extreme menses cramp on my lower abdominal. I grabbed hold on to the side of the bed on every contractions.
7am - 15 May 2015
A female doctor came and burst my water bag. i thot i peed. I felt like pooping. I know I shouldn't push before the time comes. But I honestly couldn't take the pain anymore.
8am - 15 May 2015
My doctor finally arrived. I was only 6cm dilated and my body decided to take control and started to push. A bit of a relive I felt there. My doctor told me to stop pushing, but I just couldn't.
According to her, I will only give birth in the afternoon. She went out and will only comes in when I am ready for birth. I started to cry again as i was a bit discouraged. Again my body just kept pushing. And I felt a gush of water came out from down there! My midwife then said, do what my body tells me to. I told her I can't stop pushing. So she checked and said I've 8cm dilated. She immediately called my doctor in again. My doctor rushed in and to her surprised I have fully dilated within seconds and ready to push. Thank god!!
I might have to stop here and continue later. Baby is crying to be fed! He is sho cuteeee, I can't resist ! Omg!
